On October 20th, D and I decided to attend the T. Lhamo fashion show in Chengdu as one of our friends would be modeling in it. T. Lhamo is a Tibetan fashion designer who is originally from Khyungchu (Hongyuan) County. The second adventure for the week was to a Baihuatan Park to see Sanhualou pagoda which was also close by as well. I had no clue so many parks were only a few bus stops from my house. I must be a bad explorer, or maybe just a lazy one.
Every year China has a Golden Week 7 day vacation that the entire country is mostly entitled to take. It was a holiday from work as well and although it would have been a great time to go out exploring here or abroad, my passport was once again at immigration getting renewed. Which is literally the story of my life for many of my vacations here in China, haha.
My parents came to visit me here in Chengdu for two weeks and it was awesome to have them! Originally, I was supposed to come home first to visit, but I told my parents I’m not really in the financial position to do so. Therefore it may be another year before I get home to visit. Today we took our copies we received at the marriage registration office to the Luzheng Notary Public Office today. We needed to show the original marriage certificates and give the copies to one of the workers in order to get paperwork that will allow me to be registered on D’s Hukou (Family Register).
For a long time D and I have been planning on tying the knot. I think we have actually talked about it since last summer and originally planned on last autumn, but then it got pushed to winter, and then spring, and then well the other day it actually happened.
It is always useful to know where the closest embassy or consulate general of your country is. Being a U.S. citizen I am lucky that we have an embassy in Beijing and several consulate generals in other cities across China. Luckily for me there happens to be one in Chengdu and it is fairly easy to get to.
