(the remnants from the quick cleanup) Today I have to fulfill my promise of giving a treat to the kids who did their 추석 homework. (추석 Chuseok is a Korean Holiday with similarities to Thanksgiving.) My promise was food. So my mind thought what can I make that they haven’t seen yet???
For the past few months a few of my third grade middle school girls have been asking me to cook for them. I normally go away on the weekends and they study for exams so it has been hard to organize a get together. Well, at the beginning of September we decided on September 28th, to cook. The girls requests included baked spaghetti and coconut cake.
Thought #1 Is hospital beds suck. I have never been a patient before and the fact my back, ass, hips and leg hurt for days because of a terrible bed doesn’t sit well with me. As we ladies know, we should be visiting this lovely doctor once a year. With my work schedule and where I live, I figured it would be hard to make an appointment with an English speaking doctor. However, I saw a blog post here , and I decided to go to Mediflower myself. I had a whole week off on vacation so I figured fitting that type of appointment in was a good idea.
I have been officially discharged from the hospital. The unofficial explanation was snake bite and so that’s what we are going to say it was. The ordeal took 8 days at the hospital to clear up, however, I am finally at home. The good news is I can put weight on my foot and travel the distance around my apartment, yet it still needs to be iced and receive rest. Like my ice pack from home?

Teaching is a job that has moments of joy and fury. The moments of joy far out weigh the moments of fury. This is my first year as a teacher and guess what? I’m not perfect. I’m probably not even a great teacher yet, however that is not the point. The point of being a teacher is that you are meant to grow. What have I learned in the last four months of teaching?
(Entrance to Seorak National Park.) This weekend a good friend of mine, K, came to visit. We decided to go to 속초 (Sokcho) and climb 설악산 ( Mt. Seorak). We didn’t pick the highest peak but we set out on a good hike early Saturday morning. We met up with two of her friends, one was totally unprepared and didn’t know we were going to be hiking.
